Scrap Metal Pickup vs. Junk Removal: What's the Difference?
Scrap metal pickup and junk removal get mixed up because both involve a truck and a pile. They are not the same job. FindScrapGuy matches people who have scrap with independent scrap guys. We are not a junk company and we do not haul either kind of load.
Scrap pickup
A scrap guy wants metal they can recycle: appliances, steel, iron, aluminum, copper, brass, grills, and some equipment. They may pay for clean metal or haul certain loads cheap. That is their call. See what you can scrap and when pickup might cost you nothing— without a guarantee from us.
Junk removal
Junk removal takes mixed household goods, trash, and debris. You usually pay for labor and disposal. Couches, bags, lumber, and remodel leftovers sit here. A scrap guy will often leave that behind.
Which one do you need?
If the pile is mostly metal, start with a scrap guy. If it is mostly household junk, you need a junk service — not FindScrapGuy. Mixed piles happen. Send photos. The scrap guy can say what they will take and what they will not. Finding someone local still starts with pictures and a ZIP, not a slogan.
NEED A SCRAP GUY?
Send photos and your city or ZIP. We’ll help you find a local scrap guy. We do not pick up.
